Counseling is about connection. Not only is a strong working relationship necessary to do the work of therapy, but it can also be healing in its own right. My main priority throughout our work together is to create a strong connection with you, where you feel trust, safety, connection, and warmth. Additionally, by looking at what is happening in the therapy room between you and me, we can explore how you show up in relationships with others and how that might be contributing to your current challenges.
I believe connecting with our mental, physical, and spiritual sides of ourselves can lead to true personal understanding and healing. As a trauma-informed counselor, I draw from a wide range of methods, including:
As a counselor, I see you as a person, not a diagnosis or set of symptoms. In fact, I believe each person has the innate ability for self-healing, growth, and transformation. I aim to assist you in the process of reclaiming your sense of wellness.
I work with clients on a wide range of issues, including:
I believe the social messages claiming that "real men" can't feel their emotions, shouldn't ask for help, should figure things out for themselves is really harmful and has left a lot of boys and men feeling disconnected, ashamed, and in suffering. My aim is to provide an inclusive, welcoming and caring space for anyone who identifies as a man or male to find a sense of connection, a deeper understanding of themselves, and ultimately healing. To be clear: trans men are men.
While I focus on working with men, I welcome clients of all gender expressions.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming.
