Counseling is about connection. Not only is a strong working relationship necessary to do the work of therapy, but it can also be healing in its own right. My main priority throughout our work together is to create a strong connection with you, where you feel trust, safety, connection, and warmth.
I believe connecting with our mental, physical, and spiritual sides of ourselves can lead to true personal understanding and healing. I draw from a wide range of methods, including mindfulness, body-centered, existential, and schema therapy, to help clients understand themselves more deeply.
As a counselor, I see you as a person, not a diagnosis or set of symptoms. In fact, I believe each person has the innate ability for self-healing, growth, and transformation. I aim to assist you in the process of reclaiming your sense of wellness.
I believe the social messages claiming that "real men" can't feel their emotions, shouldn't ask for help, should figure things out for themselves is really harmful and has left a lot of boys and men feeling disconnected, ashamed, and in suffering. My aim is to provide an inclusive, welcoming and caring space for anyone who identifies as a man or male to find a sense of connection, a deeper understanding of themselves, and ultimately healing.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming.
